Rare beauty by Selena Gomez is already here and we couldn’t be more excited by the launch. Frankly we’ve waited for a day like this one to celebrate diversity in the beauty industry. The thing is, when a black woman fights for diversity it’s a continuing struggle. But when a white woman fights for diversity, at least they meet women of color half way. Perhaps in this generation we’re all living in, that’s what we all need. For some reason Rare beauty embodies all the aspects necessary to navigate the society in the right direction.
Rare beauty is makeup made to feel good in, without hiding what makes you unique
Obviously Rihanna can be credited for paving the way and changing the beauty industry forever. Fenty Beauty launched with a total of 40 shades of foundation in 2017 making history in the beauty world. Little fast forward, Selena Gomez followed in Rihanna’s footsteps.
As much as Selena is one of the most followed people on Instagram, fans were anxious to know if her line was going to be accommodating. For women of color who still form part of her dearly fanbase, it must’ve been sad to think that they could’ve been left out. Usually there’s a higher possibility for women of color to suffer the most in terms of finding the right shade.
However Rare beauty made a statement by assuring everyone that no face is going to be left behind. Launching with 48 shades, that’s the most ground breaking record the beauty scene has ever seen. Rare beauty is a train that impeccably accommodates everyone. So it’s always exciting news to know that everybody is enjoying the ride without any compromise.
On Instagram Reels the superstar mentioned that she’s been working on Rare beauty for two years now. She said it’s a passion project that she’s very much proud of and couldn’t wait any longer to share it with her fans. Rare beauty launched on the 3rd of September 2020 only at selected Sephora stores. The fact that Rare beauty is makeup made to feel good in, without hiding what makes one unique makes it special.
“We had to do a lot of work during quarantine. We couldn’t have a regular photoshoot with a professional photographer or makeup artist…had them apply it themselves (super easy to use) and take a selfie…” Selena Gomez wrote in a lengthy caption.
Clearly Rare beauty has become an Instagram sensation for women sharing their rare-routine. Diversity is her key to unlock a billionaire status. We better watch out because in three years time she’ll join the family.
